Jerad McCrummen went to North Mesquite High School where he was a 3-year Varsity letterman under coach Tommy Sigler, who earned 55592 career wins at the high school level. As a sophomore he was a starting pitcher for the stallions where he earned 2nd team all-district and finished 2nd in newcomer of the year, to future Texas Tech teammate Jamodrick McGruder. His senior year he earned first team all-district honors. After his prep career at North Mesquite High School, McCrummen attended Western Texas College for one year lead by coach Craig Moore. At Western Texas College McCrummen earned first team all-conference honors and was elected to play in the all-star game. Upon completion of his freshman year, he received an athletic scholarship from Texas Tech University. As playing in the big 12 was a childhood dream of Jerad’s he elected to bypass is sophomore year at Western Texas to continue his education and playing career at Texas Tech. McCrummen played for the Red Raiders for three seasons and upon his senior season was drafted to the Colorado Rockies in the 23rd round. Coach McCrummen’s proudest achievement while at Texas Tech University was earning the Deans List honor while balancing the heavy workload that comes with being a D1 athlete. McCrummen played 2 seasons under legendary collegiate coach Tim Tadlock while at Texas Tech.
Professional Playing Career- Upon being selected in the 2013 MLB draft Jerad McCrummen was assigned to then short season A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies the Tri-City Dust Devils in the Northwest League. He would spend two seasons with the Dust Devils in which he earned June’s Relief Pitcher of the Month throughout the Rockies organization and would be a Northwest League All-Star in 2014. In 2015 he would spend his season with the Asheville Tourist in the South Atlantic League. That year the Tourist’s would ultimately fall short of a SAL championship to the Hickory Crawdad’s/ After 3 year of professional baseball McCrummen decided to retire and begin giving back to the sport that gave so much to him. In his 2-year career Jerad made appearances in 84 games, posted a 2.85 career era, 116.2 innings pitched, 99 career strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.243.
Personal- McCrummen graduated with his bachelor’s degree in University Studies with tracks in Sports management, public relations, and health from Texas Tech in May 2013. McCrummen and his wife, Megan, have two sons, Brody and Beckett. McCrummen is originally from Mesquite, Texas and was born in 1990.
OZZIE GUTIERREZ
Coach Gutierrez has been with NTX Elite since 2018 as a coach and 2019 as a full time staff at In Bounds Sports Training.
Coach Gutierrez was a 3 time All-District (P, UTIL) honoree as well as a 2 time TAPPS All-State (Once as a Pitcher and once as an Utility player) selection at Hyde Park Baptist in Austin, Texas.
Following his time at Hyde Park, Coach Gutierrez played 3 years of college baseball at the NAIA level (Freshman Year : Huston-Tillotson, Sophomore/Junior : Northwood University)
His freshman year at Huston-Tillotson, he batted .321 and lead the team in Runs Scored while also finishing his season with 112 AB’s with 0 strikeouts.
While at Northwood University, Coach Gutierrez was apart of a group that qualified for the NAIA World Series and finished 7th overall in the NAIA. After his Junior Season, Northwood University (Texas) closed its doors and Coach Gutierrez decided to finish school and begin his path to coach.
Coach Gutierrez currently coaches 2 teams with NTX Elite and gives lessons throughout the week.
Altobelli is a native of Plano, TX. He attended Plano Senior where he caught and played infield.
Following his time at Plano Senior High, Altobelli continued his playing career at Texas Tech University where he was a teammate of our Director of Baseball Operations, Jerad McCrummen. While at Texas Tech, he was named to the Johnny Bench Award watch list (top collegiate catcher) in 2011 and 2012. In his three-year college career, he compiled a .333 career average. Following his junior year in 2012, Altobelli was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 21st round of the First Year Player Draft.
Altobelli decided to sign a professional contract and surpass his senior year of college. He went on to play in three seasons with the Minnesota Twins in which he was a member of the 2012 Appalachian League Champion Elizabethton Twins. Altobelli advanced to Class A Cedar Rapids Kernels his last two seasons as a professional.
Once his professional career ended, Altobelli decided to go back to Texas Tech University to complete his degree. In 2016, he served as an undergrad assistant under Tim Tadlock at Texas Tech. His responsibilities included coaching first base, assisting with hitters and assisting with catchers. During that year, Texas Tech advanced to the NCAA College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Altobelli graduated from Texas Tech in May of 2016 with a Bachelors in Exercise Sports Science and a minor in Sports Nutrition. In August of 2016, Altobelli was brought on at Midland College as a volunteer assistant. Following one year as a volunteer, he was hired as the assistant coach by head coach Hector Rodriguez.
In all 3 years at Midland College, the Chaparrals advanced to the regional tournament including a conference championship in 2019. A total of 43 players moved on to play at the next level after Midland College during his 4 year tenure, including 2 MLB Draft picks.
