Altobelli is a native of Plano, TX. He attended Plano Senior where he caught and played infield.
Following his time at Plano Senior High, Altobelli continued his playing career at Texas Tech University where he was a teammate of our Director of Baseball Operations, Jerad McCrummen. While at Texas Tech, he was named to the Johnny Bench Award watch list (top collegiate catcher) in 2011 and 2012. In his three-year college career, he compiled a .333 career average. Following his junior year in 2012, Altobelli was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 21st round of the First Year Player Draft.
Altobelli decided to sign a professional contract and surpass his senior year of college. He went on to play in three seasons with the Minnesota Twins in which he was a member of the 2012 Appalachian League Champion Elizabethton Twins. Altobelli advanced to Class A Cedar Rapids Kernels his last two seasons as a professional.
Once his professional career ended, Altobelli decided to go back to Texas Tech University to complete his degree. In 2016, he served as an undergrad assistant under Tim Tadlock at Texas Tech. His responsibilities included coaching first base, assisting with hitters and assisting with catchers. During that year, Texas Tech advanced to the NCAA College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Altobelli graduated from Texas Tech in May of 2016 with a Bachelors in Exercise Sports Science and a minor in Sports Nutrition. In August of 2016, Altobelli was brought on at Midland College as a volunteer assistant. Following one year as a volunteer, he was hired as the assistant coach by head coach Hector Rodriguez.
In all 3 years at Midland College, the Chaparrals advanced to the regional tournament including a conference championship in 2019. A total of 43 players moved on to play at the next level after Midland College during his 4 year tenure, including 2 MLB Draft picks.

- Sumer 2016 – assistant coach for the Portland Pickles (summer collegiate team in the Great West League)
- 2016-2017 – volunteer assistant coach at Midland College
- 2017-2020 – assistant coach at Midland College.
